Audio stays in the browser
When you drop a song on StemSplitterLab, the file is decoded on your device. It is kept in this browser’s storage so the library can open it again. Separating it, changing the speed or the pitch, looping, and exporting WAV or MP3 all use that local copy. The song is not uploaded to StemSplitterLab, and there is no account it could be attached to.
If you delete a song from the library, that local copy is removed. Clearing this site’s data in the browser removes the library as well. We do not have a second copy to restore.
The model download
The separation weights are not inside the page. The first time you run a split, the browser requests them from models.stemsplitterlab.com. That request is for the model file only. It does not include your audio. The response is stored in this browser and reused. The address is versioned, so an old cached file is not silently replaced.
A small runtime is loaded from this site when a split starts. It is not loaded merely because you opened the page. A larger graphics runtime, if needed, is loaded from models.stemsplitterlab.com.
What we do not collect
StemSplitterLab does not use an analytics tool. Opening a page does not send a usage ping, and there is no advertising script on the site. The server that delivers the pages sees ordinary request logs that a host keeps for any static site, such as the address of the page and a user agent. Those logs are not a product, and they do not contain the contents of your songs.
The language switch stores your choice in this browser after you click it. The page does not read that choice in order to change what a search engine indexes. Email you send to the address on the contact page is ordinary mail, and it is the one place where you are deliberately sending us a message.
